Rector-Elect Father Nicholas Chandler Athanaelos, SSC

Father Nick became rector-elect of Saint Anne’s in December of 2025 and officially began January 1, 2026. Father is a native of Augusta, Georgia, and attended both grade school and high school there. He would later join the Augusta Police Department where he served in various roles eventually obtaining the rank of Detective assigned to the Vice and Narcotics Division until his departure for seminary.

After graduation from Western Illinois University and obtaining his Master's in Theology from Loyola University, Chicago, Father was ordained a Deacon at Saint Stephen's, Athens, Georgia and Priested at Saint Bartholomew's, New Bern, North Carolina. Except for a brief departure, Father has served numerous parishes in the Anglican Catholic Church since 1999.

Father Nick is a member of The Society of the Holy Cross (SSC), a fraternity of Anglo-Catholic Priests founded by Blessed Charles Lowder in London in the nineteenth century to promote sound Catholic doctrine and teaching while providing a mutual society for prayerful and fraternal support amongst brother priests. Father is an active Chaplain for the Saint Mary's County Sheriff's Office ministering to the sworn officers, civilian personnel, and citizens of Saint Mary's County.

In his spare time, Father enjoys bowling, swimming, Southern history, and the beautiful surroundings of the Chesapeake Bay.
